Oak Bay Collector Car Festival
Every year, on a late summer Sunday, Oak Bay Avenue is filled end to end with classic Collector Car from days gone by. Tailfins, V8’s, maybe a Batmobile, a Starky’s and Hutch cruiser, or a Model T. There’s enough rumble to set off the city’s Ritcher scale.
With over 300 classics, hot rods, sports cars – all fast, all weird, all cool, as far as the eye can see. The show includes whole areas dedicated to Aston Martins, Alfa Romeos, Victoria’s Electric Vehicle Club (Teslas up close!), and more.
Bring your Collector to this year’s show! The only requirement is that you know your vehicle has got uniqueness and that you love it! It doesn’t matter if it’s straight off the showroom, got a ding or two, a little rusty, or so shiny it increases the air’s temperature around it. Some vehicles we see are a work-in-progress, and every year there’s something we’ve never seen before. It’s all about variety and the love of cars. It’s an automotive mosaic.
Oak Bay’s Collector Car Show includes live music, 50/50 draws, and of course, the famous Prime Rib Barbeque.
The Oaks
Built in 1912, The Oaks Restaurant is home to the oldest building in Oak Bay Village and originally housed the Oak Bay Grocery and the Oak Bay Post Office.
From 1981-2012, The building went under some beautiful restoration and renovations and was named “The Blethering Place.” It blossomed into a popular meeting place for locals as well as a destination for international tourists.
(According to Oxford, “blethering” is Scottish for. . . “voluble senseless talking”!)
Now known as The Oaks Restaurant, you’ll find some of the best parts of the past and new style from the new owners. Enjoy afternoon tea at the most reasonable price in town, with The Oaks homemade jam, marmalade, sauces, and made-from-scratch desserts.
