Oak
Bay’s varied coastline offers both sandy beaches for sun tanning and rocky
coastline for tidepool exploration, bird watching or storm watching. Parks and
public thoroughfares provide several points of access to beaches and most are
marked with a sign indicating public access.
Sandy Willows
Beach is Victoria's best sun-tanning and swimming beach and is a popular
spot for socializing. A children’s playground is located on an adjoining
grassy area. The Kiwanis tearoom is open through the summer months for drinks
and snacks. Or walk the short distance to Estevan Village and Willows Galley
for some of Victoria’s best fish and chips.
Gonzales
Bay, at the south end of Foul bay Road, is a sandy, crescent shaped beach that
is rarely crowded even through the summer. This is a favorite spot for skimboarders
who take advantage of the suitable waves.
The beach at Cattle
Point offers interesting rock features and sea life if you can catch it
at low tide. On clear days the view of Mt. Baker is spectacular. This is also
one of the recommended beaches for Caddy-spotting.
McNeill
Bay, at the south end of Oak Bay, is also a sandy beach that is more suitable
for strolling than sun tanning with views of Trial Island and the Olympic peninsula
beyond.
Below the high tide line the beach is public property in British Columbia.
Enjoy them but please respect the private property that borders them and the
public access points.
