Full Facility and Multi-Use Parks
For taking the dog for a run, jogging, tennis, or a place to enjoy a good book
or newspaper, Oak Bay’s multi-use parks are ideal for getting away without
getting away.
Bowker Creek Walkway
A popular scenic walkway which stretches from Armstrong Avenue to Monterey.
This walkway is wheelchair accessible and features duck ponds and a picnic table.
Ducks and other wildfowl are frequently seen along this vigorously maintained
urban creek. Dogs on a leash are welcome.
Carnarvon Park
This park was officially opened in June of 1955. Carnarvon is equipped for a
number of activities including rugby, soccer, baseball, lacrosse and five tennis
courts, which are free on a first-come first-served basis. It is the only Oak
Bay park that includes a bowling green. There is a children’s water spray
area with assorted climbing structures for cool relief on a hot summer afternoon.

Entrance Park
Located at the corner of Oak Bay Avenue and Foul Bay Road, this tiny park is
a perfect place to relax outside after a day of shopping on Oak Bay Avenue.
Fireman’s Park
This neighborhood park, at 1703 Monterey Avenue, is beside the Oak Bay’s
historic fire station. There is a playground, sports fields and a baseball diamond
and public washrooms are available. Dogs are required to be leashed at all times.

Henderson Park
A twenty-one acre neighborhood park equipped with playgrounds, washrooms, picnic
tables and tennis courts at 2291 Cedar Hill X Road. Tennis courts are on a paid
reservation system from April to September and have free walk-on use if they
are not otherwise booked. There are fields available for baseball and other
sports. Dogs are permitted but must be leashed at all times. Henderson also
features a wooded Par 3 golf course, which is available on a first come first
served basis. [map]
Queen’s Park
A
scenic park which provides an excellent view of the sailboats moored in the
harbour and Mt. Baker beyond. The beach is accessible from Oak Bay Marina Park
and a stroll along the shoreline is recommended after lunch or dinner at the
Marina Restaurant in the Oak Bay Marina. Benches, picnic table and a glider
swing to enjoy picnics at the seaside.
Willows Beach
Connected to Cattle Point by a scenic trail, this park is a favorite stop for
summer socializing and people watching as it features a sandy beach, large grassed
area, playground, benches and picnic tables. The tea house concession is open
mid-May to September, serving coffee, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and cold drinks
– and of course tea. [map]
Windsor Park
Windsor
Park, located at Windsor between Transit Street and Newport Avenue, was established
as the Oak Bay Ball Park in 1890 by the B.C. Electric Co. The park now features
facilities for a number of sports including baseball. The tennis courts are
free to the public on a first-come first-served basis. There is a playground
as well as benches and picnic tables. Public washrooms are available. Windsor
Park is used by a very active and organized dog walking group that utilizes
the fields in the early morning hours for off-leash exercise for dogs. Dogs
are allowed off the leash from sunrise to 9AM from May 1 to September 15 and
from sunrise to 11AM September 16 – April 30. Windsor Park’s municipal
rose garden, at the Newport Avenue end of the park, has received a heritage
designation. The rose garden began as a private donation of 500 roses in1937.
Dogs are not permitted in the Rose Garden. Cricket at Windsor Park dates from
1906 and games take place most Sundays through the spring and summer. Schedule
